Application Architect/Database Architect

We are currently searching for senior individual contributor / Application Architect to join our team in downtown San Francisco. The successful candidate will work with other members of the team to deliver new features and components as well as enhancements of existing elements of Medem's core applications and services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Close involvement through out all the components of the SDLC from concept to deployment.
- Intensive hands-on involvement with database-related components of the SDLC; additional hands-on activities TBD based on skills and preferences of the successful candidate.
- Architecture and design for application workflows related to collaboration with 3rd party applications and services.
- Individual and team contribution for the development of Business Requirements, screen and data flows for Medem's external and internal applications.
- Delivery of Functional Specifications, detailed Use Cases, and portions of Technical Design documents for Medem's external and internal applications.
- Minimum of 7 years experience in the software industry with significant exposure to design of business and consumer applications.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in database development activities (schema definition, stored procedures, complex queries, etc.). Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience with MS SQL Server and/or Oracle, including both logical and physical E/R design.
- At least 3 years experience with formal SDLC with in-depth exposure to best design practices and techniques.
- Strong command of UML and best practices of software design including usage of tools such as Rational, ERWin, etc. Very good documentation skills.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in design and development of Web-based applications in B2B, B2E and B2C space.
- In-depth understanding and hands-on experience in technologies such as J2EE, XML, Web Services.
- Formal education in computer science or similar discipline with a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Knowledge / experience in the following areas is a great plus but is not required:
- Healthcare industry experience.
- Application Service Provider (ASP) experience.
- Experience with OLAP tools, Data Mining, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouses.
- Familiarity with open source products such as Struts, TomCat, JBoss, and Ant.
- Prior work experience in a large s/w companies such as Oracle, Big 5 consulting or similar firms.
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
- Detail oriented, methodical, meticulous, process -oriented; however open to change and motivated by innovation.
- Great collaborator and communicator - both verbal and written skills are quite important. Accustomed to working in cross-functional teams.
- Ambitious self-starter with get-it-done attitude who strives for results and performs well under pressure.
- Well-balanced technologist who puts business needs and tangible results ahead of technical perfection.
