Senior Java Developer/J2EE Architect

We are currently searching for Sr. Java developer / Architect to join our team in downtown San Francisco. The successful candidate will work with other members of the team to code enhancements and develop new components for Medem's core applications and services.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technology leadership and technical support to less experienced team members, and oversee their adherence to development guidelines and appropriate usage of design patterns.
- Architecture, design and development of the most complex elements of Medem's internal and external applications using JEE technologies.
- Participation in all aspects of SDLC from requirements gathering to production roll out. Maintain overall responsibility for technical integrity of deliverables and delivery on time and on budget.
- Technical due diligence and buy versus build analysis for new technologies, products and tools.
- On-going research of emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Experience in building object-oriented, component based products using JEE design patterns; proven track record of building high quality products using best practices and JEE patterns.
- Solid experience developing and deploying n-tier applications within a JEE application server in a clustered environment.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented design and development of distributed products in B2C and B2B space. Experience utilizing web technologies based on commercial (Weblogic 8.1 is preferred) and open source products (TomCat, JBoss, Apache, Axis, Ant, etc.).
- Strong command of UML and best practices of software design including usage of tools such as Rational, ERWin, etc.
- Excellent R&D, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
- Strong command of standard SDLC and minimum of 5 years of experience in structured development environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively; strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and experience of technology migration (commercial products to open stack, database migration, etc.).
- Knowledge and experience of work in Application Server Provider (ASP) environment is essential.
- Knowledge and experience in performance tuning, improving application scalability, availability and maintainability is a great plus.
- Certifications from Sun, Oracle, BEA are a great plus.
- Experience in the Healthcare industry is a great plus.
- Passion for technology and track record of continuing education.
- Detail oriented, methodical, process-oriented with proven ability to instill processes in start up environment.
- Team player with get-it-done attitude who strives for perfection and performs well under pressure.
